Mrs EGF has been advised to stick to a low fibre diet cos of recent bowel surgery. Now I haven't done a lot of research about low fibre foods & recipes as yet but does anyone have any tasty recipes to try?
Also while I'm analysing food labels, what % would be classed as low, say in 100gms?
She's back in hospital & I'm trying to be ready for when she [s]escapes[/s] comes home.

Thanks.

Probably best to see what kinds of foods they recommend, I would have thought it would be insoluble fibre she should avoid, ie broccoli and leafy greens, soluble fibre ie bananas would probably be ok.

However you should be sure of this first.

This is what I'm after, I'd never even heard of insoluble fibre!

It's also known as a "low residue diet" (ie low in insoluble fibre) and is recommended for IBS and Crohn's patients as well. So you'll find lots of recipes on their support websites too.

But the important question is: what sort of meals does Mrs EGF usually enjoy? You might be able to modify these for her.

I'm sorry to hear she's back in hospital though 🙁

Even by my standards, rice pudding and cheese between two slices of bread is an odd combo. 😆

cheese sandwiches!

Make sure it's the floppiest of white bread.

Won't the rice pudding make the bread floppy enough? 😉

Fish, chicken, a little red meat, Sunday dinners, mild curries, spag bol/lasagne, fish pie, rice, cottage/shepherds pie...etc etc, we do eat a fair bit of green veg normally but I guess that's out. Wer'e not fruity either

Oh, & white wine. She likes white wine.

(& gin, obs)

Pretty easy really.
I have to keep my fibre intake down as Crohn's has ruined my insides, and if i eat too much fibre it feels at best like a rubiks cube is slowly inching its way through my guts.

White bread, white pasta, white rice, meat, fish, dairy. Keep veg servings small, likewise with potatoes. Most unhealthy treats like chocolate etc are also safe 🙂

Keeping down below 6-7g per meal seems to work for me, but i don't know what the actual recommended figure is.
