I've just moved back into my house after a summer away. I cancelled my internet with Talktalk before I left so I didn't have to pay for 3 months of internet I wasn't using.

They now want £80 to "reactivate" my phone line- what's this nonsense? They say they must send round an engineer (they didn't seem to need one to deactivate it...).

Is this true or are they spouting balls? Is there a way around this (ideally involving a 12 month contract and a free modem), and if not, what's the cheapest way to reactivate it- Post Office? BT?

try other companies, you might get a better deal, there are websites to compare them. sounds a bit much as sky only charged me 60 and they needed to get bt to run a new line and then a sky man to install a dish.

Is it just the Internet provisioning? Ie, your phone line is still working?

Go to www.samknows.com, plumb in your details, pick a provider that isn't crap.

Bollocks, They don't need to send engineers to reconnect you, it's all done by computer. Connections and disconnections all done by computer. +1 to Dr Nick go elsewhere.
