Just looking at this but not overly understanding what is what!!
If i wanted to control the lights at home with my Iphone would im just need these bulbs:
https://www.maplin.co.uk/p/philips-hue-white-e27-smart-bulb-a18uf?cmpid=ppc%3Aall_products%3Apla%3Agoogle&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI057k2si72AIV7rvtCh3YfgC_EAQYBCABEgJWWvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
and my iphone with the home app or would i need some adapters/hub? Sorry for being a bit special!!
No idea but looking at the description "It needs to be linked to the Philips Hue Bridge (not included) for the Philips Hue app to be operable".
You need a Hue Hub to get it to work with other things.
There's a Hue app for your phone, you don't need to go into the abomination that is the Apple Home App.
The Apple Home app also needs an always on ipad or Apple TV for remote access (which is another reason not to use it).
The Philips Hue system uses a bridge unit that plugs into your home network. It is included in many of the kits but, apparently, not that particular product. You probably want something like https://www.maplin.co.uk/p/philips-hue-white-ambiance-e27-starter-kit-a37uy - note the “starter kit” name!
It works *really* well - most of the lighting in my house is now Philips Hue. I’ve been buying little extras for the last couple of years to build it up.
I works best if there is an Apple device that stays at home that can act as a HomeKit hub. Both iPads and AppleTVs can act in this role (and they do it automatically - you don’t have to do anything)

Being able to say things like “Hey Siri, make the Living Room darker” is a real bonus for lazy arsed me. Goddaughter does find it *very* amusing to sit there telling the living room to change random colours, though!
