Planning a week away to Cyprus with the Wife and Kids and was wondering whether there are any good trails. We are staying near Coral Bay in Paphos and I am aware that the Troodos mountains are nearby.
Anyway aware of what the trails are like out there?
Thanks
There are walking trails around Mount Olympus which are suitable for bikes. Might help?

just got back from paphos this week. We had a drive in to the mountains and they look superb for riding. but not sure on rights of way, or sign posted trails. lots and lots of wide dirt tracks though. There is a mountain bike shop in pathos that does tours i believe. possibly called mtb pathos? they might be able to help.
I take my mtb to that part of Cyprus every year and ride with Kirsty and Al from here http://www.mountainbikecyprus.com. Highly recommend them and have ridden in the Troodos and on the Akamas with them
Thanks for the posts. I will give the team at mountainbikecyprus a call later today.
Can't wait. The weather here in the UK is so rubbish. I remember last year's April / May, it was awesome and bone dry.
Tell them Jenny that was riding a black patriot recommended them ๐
Where's the best place and beach to stay in that area?
Coral Bay is a popular sandy beach but I prefer to go along the coast from there where its rockier and quieter and better for snorkelling. There are also good beaches around the Limassol area. Polis and Lakki on the northwest are also quite nice, good fish restaurants and generally a bit less built up than Paphos. My OH has an apartment out there so can't really recommend any hotels or villas, but Paphos has loads to choose from ranging from in town to along the coast and less built up depending on what you want.
My parents live in kato phaphos so I regularly ride there, the Akamas have plenty of wide dusty sandy tracks, more xc than anything else, where as the Trodos is very rocky. Basically nobody seems to give monkeys where you ride..Google the E4 trail and that's what I always follow, it goes all round the country and is well signed..
I normally hope on the E4 trail at the airport when i get there and ride along the coast to Paphos, its about 15k,you have to do a little bit of beach work but not much. I prefer to take my road bike these days as the roads from the mountains are fairly new and smooth and fast....
Did a days riding with the mtb firm mentioned as it was cheaper than driving to the Trodos myself, basically we just rode the walking trail up the that's all sign posted so was hardly a guided ride but fun and rocky
If your in Coral Bay make sure you check out Yialos. Good basic greek food at its best

There is a trail that heads downhill from the Presidents summer house above Platres, its the return leg of the waterfall walk. I didn't ride it but I moaned about not having my bike all the way down!
The loops up on Troodos are not too tech but easy to follow and worth a spin. They basically maintain there height and circle the mountain.
