Is it possible to take a sodastream on a plane?  Am i right in thinking that the co2 canister is a prohibited item?

Does anyone have any ideas as to how to get it from Scotland to Austria?  Can i post it?

Thanks

I can’t help with your logistical quandary, but it’s sounds like the perfect premise for a novel. Or at least a romantic comedy.

I'm not familiar with modern soda stream but the old ones had refillable cartridges didn't they? Surely an empty cartridge is no risk. Isn't that how people take scuba kit on flights and get it filled at the other end?

There will be restrictions on quantity and packaging and it will need correct shipping paperwork in accordance with IATA Dangerous Goods regulations. Would be easier to take the unit and buy the bottle at your destination.

Think you exchange the canisters rather than refill them? And they aren't small so no using nature's pocket. Unless your pocket is more like a bag...

Leave the CO2 cartridge at home and buy a new one once you are there.

Have you checked you can buy 'Highland Fizz' concentrate in Austria? or that you might actually be able to buy IrnBru itself thus saving the KY lubed hassle?

Not exactly.

As he's going to Austria, the German Amazon might be a bit more useful?
