Going on holiday to Canada on Friday and just found my tablet won't charge. Any recommendations for decent, fairly cheap android tablets?

Hudl is always a good place to start. There was a thread a week or 2 ago about a Lenovo that looked pretty good too.

Hudl everytime!

If budget is the thing you can still get the Hudl 1 on Tesco Direct, refurbished with a year warranty for £49!

Otherwise the Hudl 2 is £79 refubished, or £99 new.

I got a Hudl2 for £29 with Tesco clubcard vouchers. Very happy with it.

Asus memopad 7 is the same performance specs as the hudl2, has a smaller screen, but battery lasts much longer, so depends whether you want bigger screen or longer between charging

Anyone tried the Lenovo Yoga 2 tablet?

How are the Hudles for watching movies?

Are u sure it's not an issue with the charger rather than the tablet? Had a similar issue with my Samsung, just ordered a replacement sub charger from Amazon and it worked.

It could be but, to be honest, it's quite old now (it's the first version of the Asus Transformer) and no longer receives OS updates, so it could do with replacement.

Plus, genuine Asus chargers for it seem to be quite hard to find. The non Asus ones tend to charge very slowly.

I've owned both the first hudl and now have a hudl 2, and most of what I do is watching movies!!

Sound on the hudl 2 is far superior but both are good for movies with good screen Rez and brightness

Asus MeMo pad 7

Really pleased with mine, nice and nippy, happy with the screen, speakers loud enough to use for audio book reading while I am decorating a room - plus it came from John Lewis so good service, excellent guarantee and the profits go to the staff. Win all round!

How do you get on with the 7 inch screen size? JL also do the Lenovo.

We've got an Archos 10.1 and find it spot on.

I've got a 1st gen transformer, they charge from a 12v supply rather than a stock 5v USB charger. I lost mine years ago and had to make my own, was a bit nerve wracking the first time I plugged it in!
Would you consider selling yours for spares? Did any smoke get released before it stopped working? Would have to be mega cheap though to be worth keeping as a backup.
I upgraded the android version last week and its really quick now, got rid of all the annoying lag it's had since I first got it!

I'm running 4.3.1 just now. Just rooted the device and followed a guide to installing custom ROM's. Went with katkiss custom ROM, it's made a huge difference!
