Hi I need a Switching Power Supply, input 100 - 240 v 50/60 Hz 1.0A max, output 12 v 3.5A.
I have a spare power supply with an input of 100 - 240 v 50/60 Hz 1.0A max but with an output of 12 v 4 A.
Obviously this is different as the output is higher by .5A.
Can in safely use the higher output supply or will it damage the television it's going to power?

It'll be fine.
Fine, the TV will take what it needs, assuming nothing wrong with it.
Check the connections are the same, + and - go to the correct pins.

It’s more than fine, it’s perfect.
It’s essential the output voltage is matched, and it is at 12v. And the power supply should be capable of supplying at least the same, but preferably more current, than what the appliance demands.
It will probably be fine however some switchers need a certain amount of load to maintain regulation. So not 100% that simple, however it will probably be fine 🙂
