Looking to camp somewhere in SW France for a week or so at the beginning of July-ish. The area we're thinking about is somewhere in the Toulouse-Montpelier-Perpignan triangle. Close to the coast would be good, but we don't mind inland either. Rural is fine as we'll have a car and mrs deadly is not a boozer anyway so if we have to travel about to eat, that'll be fine too. If anywhere has stayed somewhere absolutely amazing outside this area but in the SW area in general, we'd love to hear about it too.
We have no kids, so not looking for Europcamp type mahoosive campsites, just something a little cosier if possible. It would have to be dog-friendly, but if you don't know whether your favourite is or not, don't worry, we'll make enquiries anyway.
So what ya got? Cheers.

Cevennes is a nice area. I take the bikes. We have kids though.
Camping Ascou la Forge, outside Ax les Thermes.
The best sanitary facilities of any site i've been to in France, and i've been to a lot.
Dutch couple specialise in outdoor activities and they have a large room full of information on the area.No problems with dogs and footpaths from the site take you down to the town of Ax or over to other valleys.
Hourtin has a good campsite right by the sea. The place has some good eateries but it's not overdeveloped. You can surf there plus you can ride through the pine forests. I saw my first wild boar there last summer. If you're in the area, the Medoc is a great spot for picking up some serious wine at reasonable prices.
Thanks folks. Will check those out. ๐
