Well as the boy giving me pointers said.... If you can surf that thing...you'll surf anything haha.
He was wrong.
I could hardly stand up on his board.
Did get a shot on a surfsup. **** me that things twitchy and hard to balance on probably why it turns so easily in the waves
They are a challenge aren't they! I've got a Loco hybrid 8'11". There are 130lt of volume in there apparently but at 90kg plus board, paddle and suit that's not a lot spare - I can sink the tip or the tail just by rocking my weight from my toes to my heels. It was an aspirational purchase! Awesome when on the way back but the paddle out is a challenge!
Not got to Sandend yet, but my real surfing friends rave about it when the conditions are right. Findhorn is enough for me at the moment - not enough proper surf for real surfers so a muppet like me on a sup can crash and burn without as much humiliation or getting in people's way.
What is your river board? I nearly got a McKonks but now I've got a white water paftraft I don't think I'll bother for the foreseeable.
What is your river board?

its a great board for the river (I'm on the lower Dee from Banchory to town most of the time) but hard work to move against current or the wind - wouldnt be my first choice on the sea but we had a few folk out with us who didnt have boards so we lent out the other boards and knowing the wilderness was a horrible board in the wind and current i took that out.
Showing out of stock as there's been an issue with the deck pad bonding - hasnt been an issue for me yet - they told me to keep using till end of the season then they will sort me out.
Enjoy I see someone with a bit more experience than me has already pointed out start out into the wind so getting back isn't a problem. We had an inflatable canoe and was fun but hard work in the wind..we went to sit on rigids and much more fun...one thing I'd always take is a floating throw line already attached in some optimistic belief that would help if young one needed a tow
