Just been given a carrier bag full of fresh prawns caught by my mate this afternoon. All washed/rinsed and chilling/wriggling in the fridge now ready for tea tomorrow. I've never cooked them before, so what do you suggest?
(Don't think me rude if I don't reply hereafter, I'm off to bed).
if they're that fresh it would be uncouth to do any more than a quick steam served with lemon.
mmmmmm fresh fishh....
Salt and Pepper King Prawns
Just amazing far better than a smidge of lemon can ever do.

Can't vouvh for that recipe as my favourite Chinese does them far better than I ever could.
Prawn risotto, seems a waste with good prawns.
I like this too. Tasty and cooks in <15min

Fry briefly in garlic butter. Leave the shells on, that's where the flavour comes from. If you can, eat them with the shell still on, much more tasty. The crispy tail is the best bit.
Garlic and chilli fried in butter.
Served with a small amount of salad and some very nice rustic bread.
Any reaction if you flick them?
Shallow fried in oil with chili flakes and a dash of lime.

(similar to mentioned above)
e2a: don't leave the prawns in to cook for too long, I've found the 3-4 minutes stated to be a bit too much.
I'm very very hungry now. Missed last night they're still in their shells so my suggestion isn't great. So go with the fried in garlic and chill butter ideas.
My porridge isn't going to be as tempting now.
Mmm...thanks for all the suggestions. They were all still alive last night, didn't check this morning. I think I will try a few different recipes - there's about 2kg!
If they need rehoming...
That's a kind offer, but they seem quite content where they are.
