I’ve been decorating for the last three evenings and my face looks like it has been exposed to the reactor core. Why do paint fumes do this?
I find that long haul flights have a similar catastrophic effect.

It's either the paint or 14 hours in an aircraft in the last few days (and I would have remembered that). The pressure in the tip of my nose feels like it will implode my skull.
