Lots of chatter on here about Netflix/Prime/Films, perhaps there is space also for chatter about books.
I'm off on holiday in a week or so and need to bulk up my reading list.
What are you reading and what do you recommend? I'm particularly interested in:
-Travel / Adventure / Exploring (Touching the Void, The Call of the Wild, Shackleton)
-Political history, especially US politics (Anything Bob Woodward, Team of Rivals)
-Military history, especially aviation (Wings on my Sleeves, Bridge of Spies, Vulcan 607, Heroes of Telemark)
-Some biographies (most recently, Billy Connelly Windswept and Interesting on audiobook)
Quite disappointingly, I struggle to get into fiction so tend to avoid these but would love to be convinced otherwise.
What are you reading or what have you read and loved?
- Military history, especially aviation - Chickenhwawk - Robert Mason
- Fiction - Lonesome Dove, Larry McMurtry. It's a western, but don't let that put you off.
I'm currently really enjoying 22,000 miles: A A Father and Son's Cycling Adventure by Richard Seipp (of this parish I believe?!). Lovely stories and adventures. Well worth a read imo (ymmv obvs!)

Not my usual read, but it’s very interesting and meticulously researched.

Bill Bryson is always good for travelling related reads.
The Reluctant Traveller by Bill Lumley is a funny adventure/travel book by a man who really didn’t want to do either of those things.
Mark Lanegan’s biography Sing Backwards and Weep is an unflinchingly honest one. Thing the Grandchildren should know by Mark Everett (Eels) is fantastic. Both are probably better if you’re a fan of the artists.
Lawrence Anthony’s books are great wildlife conservation books. Babylons Ark in particular is nuts in a good way. He entered the Iraq war to rescue animals from the Baghdad zoo.
