Hi

Little'n would like a "propper" scooter for Xmas. But I have no idea what is good or bad. I assume everything over £150 will be good?

She has said she is not bothered about colour as long ain't is a good one. Now, I have spotted this in Decathlon, obviously it doesn't have the right name in it, which she doesn't care about but is the spec good / good value for money.

Cheers

My two boys had Razor's last Xmas.
Tough as old boots

I notice the more pricey ones had a threadless steerer

Paid about £70 for my 10 yr olds Razor scooter about 18 months ago. Very tough thing. Takes my 15st 6ft frame with ease.

We have ten eighty that was off eBay, and cost £80 iirc, half price.

Proper job, with bearings, eurathene wheels and strong, replaceable parts. Our lads give it some proper grief.

One like this

Get one that'll last (Grit or MGP are the choice of da yoof), but those Razors on SportPursuit look the business at about £50.
My boy's had his Grit since he was about 9. After much abuse at the skatepark, it languished in the garage for the past year, but since he started senior school, he's started using it to ride to school every day. (Why he'd choose that over a bike, is beyond me!)

Bought my 6 year old son one of these at the start of the year

Seems like a decent thing in a bright branded rather than raw finish style. He's not properly got into using it yet but it's recevied a few admiring comments from some of the proper scooter kids.

Razor sucks according to my 8 year old. Grit is where its at. He has an MGP at the moment, trading up to a grit when he's saved enough.

If you are anywhere near Devizes, Wilts go to Ramp Nation - they have Grit scooters from £50-120 beating any online price I've seen.. think they may get some 'support your LBS' type deal - the 120 one is normally around the 180 mark. Don't know if they do mail order.

Lolz - it's a gateway drug, don't sweat it. Once I boardslide one of the boxes and kickflipped on the banks at RN I got my official Awesome badge from da kidz, don't think they actually believed I rode skateboards really.

That's probably because they make those flimsy fold-up ones. The ones on SP aren't those, they're proper stunt scooters - the Ultra Pro one is anyway. (Did I really just type "proper stunt scooters". Oh my)

@ brassneck I'm like a local hero with the kids since I flatspotted my wheels doing power slides for them, they found them much more fun than kickflips, shoveits,etc... Cul de sac life.
