Nice. I'd love to be able to do that.

So, aerial photos from toy helicopters then.

Very nice, though!

Dead pigeons often fly over the wall of our local prison (allegedly).

Well, yeah, and technically you could take much the same photos from a full-size chopper, but a quad or octacopter will obviously be a lot less obtrusive to those on the ground.
And the costs will be a lot lower!

Phantom 4 circa 1200 quid.

Helicopter, pilot, fuel and gimble/camera - 2000+

Although it just cost me 1300 to get CAA permissions for commercial operations.

Not forgetting the appreciation too, 'coz anyone can take picture like that now.

They're novelty pictures and we all know what happens to novelty.

Oh pull your head out of your butt. Your style of photography isn't the only legitimate form of photography, you know.

There's never been a cheap easy way to take good pictures of people rock climbing before now...!

Hasn't the camel type photo been done before, a planet earth type program i think.

Does't drone mean some autonomy? If not its a radio controlled 'copter tri/ quad of other.

Yes, but the press use 'drone' as a collective name for a flying thing they don't like. If they also knew that most of the RC quads they get worked up about could fly autonomous missions they'd get even more worked up.

Yann Arthus-Bertrand may have something to say about whether that sort of thing is a novelty

Funny you should mention him as I bought a copy of 'Earth from the Air' only two days ago (for £2 off a book seller on the Worthing coast).

OK head's out, but they're still novelty photographs.

Hmm, must get myself a drone and fly it over a beach for some photos of ahem, umbrellas and er, shadows. 😆

You think that's bad. I got Tim Peake's book for Christmas and it's just a bunch of pictures of stuff from quite high up.
What's the point eh?
