We will be in touch
Booked a family trip to Penzance, what should we be doing?
Is it worth bringing bikes- if so where?
I'll be bringing surfboards and bodyboards.
Coastal path in either direction from penzance west or from Marazion east is great, probably a walk rather than a ride though, nice pub food at the Victoria in Perranuthnoe (sp?). The busses are quite good if you fancy a linear walk rather than re tracing your route. The busses are quite expensive mind you.
See what am-dram is on at the Minack Theatre, if that floats your boat.
Day trip to Scilly Isles.
Stand up paddle boarding or sit on top kayak from Porth Leven (hire on the quay side).
Fish and chips at Steins after.
Maritime Museum in Falmouth also okay for a mooch about.
I like mousehole, there's some nice walks over the tops.
Don't go to Land's End. Go to Porthcurno beach instead.
Look out every morning at the rain and wind and cold and think 'why the **** didn't I go abroad...'?
Don't get me wrong, I love wind and rain and cold, just not on holiday.

We are just back from a week there and my immediate comments would be.
Avoid Lands End, I was hoping for a quiet moment of reflection in isolation but got a £6 entry charge to a poor version of Blackpool.
Levant mine up the coast was interesting but perhaps an hour of attention.
Try lizard point, and then kynance cove on the way.
Padstow is where you will find Rick steins chippy, £9 for a battered fish, take out.
Eden project is good for a few hours but v expensive.
Llanhrydock House. Stately home type place with gardens and cycle routes theough the grounds. They purport to have red routes but I didn't ride there so not sure if it's red red or red red?
Telegraph museum was highly recommended but I didn't make it there, and porthcurno beach is supposed to be very nice. Didn't get there as the car park was full!
Maritime museum was a bit meh for me. Kids not really inspired but if messing around on the water is your thing then maybe it would offer more.
Penzance/Marazion is the start point for the causeway to St Michaels Mount. Quite impressive. Check the tide timings but if it's in, it's a cheap boat ride across but walking is far more exciting!

it is but as with all Cornish beaches, except a couple, beware the rip tides with your kids.
Agreed, the Lizard (most southerly) is much better than Lands End (westerly).
If you want a bit of culture then Newlyn / St. Ives Tate are decent Art galleries. Also worth checking out what's on at the Minack Theatre.
In Penzance a walk past the Admiral Benbow (not sure on its current quality).
A day out sea fishing...
Whilst in Newlyn be sure to have an Ice Cream from Jelberts, proper job!!
You can clamber down the side of the rock face at Sennen and do a bit of bouldering from the big platform above the sea.
If it is grey one day and you don't mind a 30 mile drive, this is good fun:

There are also a couple of skate parks IIRC in Penzance.
As above avoid Lands End like the plague. If you must go there to have your photo taken at the signpost then walk it on the coast path from either Sennen or Porthcurno - you'll see some truly amazing coastline and avoid paying the parking.
Priests Cove / Cape Cornwall is a lovely spot to spend some time - good walking in either direction and fab for rock-pooling.
Now that the summer holidays are over then Gwynver / Sennen would be my pic for surfing. Praa sands can also be pretty good.
There is a great circular walk from Mousehole to Lamorna, up to the Merry Maidens and back over the fields. The Lamorna Wink pub used to be a truly bizarre little place but is now apparently somewhat gentrified.
Porthleven is worth a visit for a pint and fish and chips on the quayside (Roland's is the best chippie IMHO). Also great for crabbing.
I'd second the Minack Theatre, really quite an amazing place.
Coasteering is great fun too for when the surf is rubbish
