My mum woulda got it off for them - when I was a kid I whipped a leccy fence with our dog's lead. The D-clip duly attached itself to the fence! Mum: "stand back" grabs it, unhooks. Proper 'ard. Well, she did it after I refused and ran away. 😳

Why not just grab the handlebar by the grip and lift it off.
Rubber handlebar grips, non-conductive seat and rubber tyres - why are they titting around with it so much ?

So given the choice between a gate, held closed with a bit of Orange rope the decided to climb over and hand the bikes over an electric fence then damaged the fence in the process? Idiots.
Re non conductive tyres i imagine the mud has enough water content to be conductive given the fact one of them gets a shock.
