I have a 18v lightweight strimmer that takes 2mm 'string'. Does anyone have any reccomendations for decent quality mono-filament that doesnt disintegrate the instant that it starts doing its work? Thanks

I find the best is spiral cord, cuts easier at lower revs

I too use Stihl go faster orange, which I think is 3 or 4mm. A bodge I used to use with my Black & Decker electic jobby was a couple of heavy duty cable ties cut to length. Last much longer than the plastic string.

Couple of points of order Mr Chairman:
+ It's a brush cutter... A Strimmer is to brush cutters as Hoover is to vacuum cleaners...
+ Don't bother with brake/gear cable it dunt last 2 mins and is especially inconvenient if still attached to the boik..

Another one for Stihl, commercial use for me, tried a few different brands and it's a false economy.
On the farm I use 3mm Oregon Flexiblade, cuts faster than anything I've used before plus it never seems to break just wears down.
