Netflix seem good for TV series, bad for up-to-date films.

Lovefilm don't seem to good on up-to-date films unless you use the postal service.

What are the alternatives? Blinkbox? Sky?

What thinks the hive?

Buy an xbox 360

Loads of different video subscription streaming options on there including Netflix, Lovefilm along with iPlayer, 4OD, 5OD, youtube etc.

If I had to pick one, I'd stick with Netflix but if you're someone who'd buy one DVD a month, you can probably justify both. I have both on my XBox, my smartTV and my computers (and tablets and phones). TV anywhere really.

Subscription or pay as you go?

I've used Lovefilm in the past and currently use Netflix, both subscription. If latest releases are your thing, both fall short.

iTunes has new releases in abundance BUT they are not all available for rental and the rental prices can be quite steep. iTunes is pay as you go. To be honest this suits me because I don't watch many films each month. The other PAYG service I sometimes use is Sony's Movies Unlimited, which is available via the PS3 and Sony's BD Players. It's cheaper than iTunes, isn't quite as good on the selection but does have new releases at least.

In my experience I've yet to find a movie streaming service that offers everything I want, so I end up flitting between them. I gave up on Lovefilm though.

We've got netflix...seems to stream quite well on all the macs in the house, it's quite sluggish on the iTV thing but maybe that's because the [s]router[/s] (TV box thing) is really quite a long way away from the router and it's an old house.

😀

I think I'm going to go for LG box and Blinkbox pay-per-view...

Eurgh - Blinkbox only have a limited film selection. Good news today, though, if you're interested...
