You don't even want to start me on my theories for fixing the ills of society.

I truly felt that the programme was quite harrowing tonight.

Edit: Last week's was incredibly moving. I don't understand why some of these people are in prison, some should be in physicatric units surely?

It's just you and whatever other reactionary mit mots who have dropped their Daily Mail as their eyes glaze over whilst drooling at the tv,fantasising about flogging, public executions and defenestration etc.

Why just put them down when we could work them to death or conduct experiments on them?

🙄

A fine idea TSY. Liberal policies clearly aren't working.

I do live in fear of becoming a Daily Mail reader, right enough.

Edit - P.S. On the grounds of life being too short I don't watch such tripe. I just occasionally post here instead, I find it more worthwhile 🙂

We could turn them into soylant green, and feed them to themselves
Then conduct experiments on them.
Allthough I think boddingtons beat us to it....

There is a wide variety of what people in society find acceptable. We should have a national referendum and anyone whose standards are below the average should be seen to be lacking in the skills to be part of society and so imprisoned, the lowest 10% should be executed. We could do this every few years. Then society would be self-cleansing and reflect the standards of everyone

Could we not put them in giant hamster cages to feed energy to the grid?

CM it is a great suggestion but in practice what would we do without a army to implement this 😉

CM, I'm simply for the partitioning of society - send them to the colonies. What has Britain got left, the Falklands? Send them there, or somewhere similar,

Actually, thats too far to be carbon friendly. How about the Isle of Wight. Anthropomorphic climate change will render the waters shark infested soon enough.

Can't we just harness the giant hamsters?

Scotland.

Oh hold on...
Dammit i hate it when you have a great idea then find that someone has already thought of it and implemented it!

I'll think you'll find the lower echelons of Scottish society are indigenous, and have not been sent here as punishment or as part of a social cleansing of say, Englandshire. However, their lot is at least partly attributable to the union that has downtrodden the Scots for centuries.

For this reason, the day after Scotland gains independence I'm sending the lowest 25% to the Isle of Wight. Probably by National Express. I expect this'll be some time next week, the way things are going 😀 😀 😀

That would just be cruel though wouldn't it? I wouldn't wish that on the poor Hamsters.
We need to release the Hamsters, let them run free.

Not all hamsters want to be free, some want to stay in their cages making dirty protests about being set free.

It's a very complicated issue.

The most disturbing thing about it was how 'normal' the guy who'd murdered his wife seemed. Even referring to her, throughout, as 'my ex-wife' (yes.. very 'ex'). He let the mask slip when he tore the eyes out of her photograph, obviously. But other than that he was doing a passable impression of a human being.

I'd like my criminals as described by the tabloid press please. 'Evil' 'Twisted' etc. Its far easier for my simple mind to comprehend

Prisons contain the mad, the bad and the sad. Punishing mad people don't help and punishing sad people don't prevent crime.

The majority of people in Prison have mental health issues or addictionsor have learning difficulties

We need to focus on the causes of crime to reduce crime - although it is a lot lower than it used to be.

sort out a rational drugs policy. Locking up junkies for short sentences changes nothing; No deterrent effect. A huge % of petty crime is junkies

Sadly TJ we've now got a government who seem intent on creating the kind of conditions where a huge increase in crime is, I think, Inevitable. Increased poverty, gross inequality, and the desperation of long-term unemployment only generate one thing. Massively increased drug use being one symptom. We're returning, full speed ahead, to the mid 80's. And having seen that first-hand first time around, in a northern working-class community, I really really really don't want to witness it again. Unfortunately I think I'm about too. Its quite depressing really

Oops - seem to have wandered a bit off topic there

I agree - the Giant Hamsters should be integrated into society. I, for one, would love to be served my McDonalds by a Giant Hamster McTrainee.

Isn't involuntary euthanasia, like, murder and possibly illegal?

How they had the patience to deal with that David bloke was beyond me.

Total waste of a life and a drain on society.

I'd like to have my tyres changed by a giant Hamster at ATS.

I've met that David bloke on a number of occasions and he seemed a bit odd, but nothing like he was in the programme.

I think the explanation for his behaviour, which is patently obvious, is that he is from Sunderland.

that bloke who killed his ex was expecting to pick up his relationship with his kids where he left off when he gets out in 30 years time.

He may have behaved calmly on camera but he's clearly a deluded pillock if he really thinks that's what awaits him on his release.

And that David bloke, clearly he shoudln't be in prison but we don't have anywhere else to put people who aren't mentally ill but won't look after themselves.

True, David shouldn't be in prison, but he wants to be there, so every time he's not. He does something to get back in. I know it's not supposed to be a care home, but if the end result is the same, David in prison, then the only thing achieved by letting him out each time is that someone gets hurt in between times.

C_G, a mate of mine works in a secure pyschiatric hospital, it costs huge £££'s to cater for patients. Only the very worse off go there.

what about involuntary euthanasia for OAPs..?

That would put the economy right back on track.. make the roads safer.. free up loads of affordable housing and stop the whole country smelling of wee and lavender..
