As STW seems to be a hive of knowledge on all things feline, how do I deter cats from defecating on my drive??
One (or more?) of the neighbours cats has suddenly taken to crapping on my gravel driveway. I never catch the blighter in the act but I came home after a few days away and there were about 15 little presents waiting for me to clear up.
As I clear up after my dogs and don't let them crap on my neighbours gardens, I object to clearing up after some bugger else's cat!!
Links to comedy videos on uTube welcome, but would appreciate and serious (humane!) suggestions!
I've been told that pepper and or lemon (or any citrus) juice sprinkled down will deter them.
A large quantity of cayenne pepper certainly deterred some foxes from doing the same in my experience but I have no proof that it will work to prevent feline dirty protests....

Sound like your drive to a cat is an over-sized litter tray! Tarmac it!
Air rifle for me......hate the ffffing things
I've tried all sorts on our gravel drive. Nothing worked. But I accidentally dropped an open full petrol can on our drive and although the stench of petrol was over powering for 3 days it kept the cat away for long enough that it found somewhere else to use. No cat crap on our drive for 3 months.
From a H&S point of view I can't recommend pouring petrol on your drive but it worked regardless.

bit strong maybe!

I'm no fan but the sprinkler or high pitched noise PIR things work. I used both in the past, not a problem where I live now, but at my old house the little blighters used to do it in my veg patch 👿
Sprinkler probably won't work on your drive way though, well it will but you'll get your car washed every time you pull up, you get out and the postman too, could be amusing to watch though 😈
[edit]oh and btw powders/granules and gels etc all work for a short time if at all and then you need to buy more. waste of money ime [/edit]
So the only answer is to buy a lion? 😯
Northwind might have something.
We have this thread once a month
Shows how widespread the problem is then doesn't it
That's gravel drives for you. 25mm pebble and above and they usually don't bother. I have also found this helps in the past
In addition, you could provide a more appealing graveled area for the cat to shit elsewhere. Somewhere nearby, out of the way, preferably someone else's drive even.

There's almost certainly one in the owner's kitchen, but it craves variety and the frisson of being annoying.
🙂
A sturdy mallet and a cork ought to do it?
Have tried loads of things inc plastic bottles filled with water, holly sprigs, pepper and even peeing in the garden myself but the most effective so far has been these wind twister things...
They spin around in the breeze and the reflection scare the cats away, haven't seen a cat in the garden for ages now. 4 for less than a quid @ the 99p shop 😀
Muke - that's a lot cheaper than the crossbow I was looking at to stop the little feccers digging up the border every time they want a no. 2
The only thing that worked for us was my very own urine sprinkled liberally around the garden. Might give those twirly things a go though.
Shoot one then hang the body up where any others will see it. Farmers do this with other vermin.
On a similar subject....
We grew our front hedge from scratch beginning with just a few cuttings, so now a little frustrating that it has 2 bare patches where a neighbour's cat is spraying "his" territory.
Any ideas for that one? Mrs was considering a temporary perspex screen to let the hedge recover. But would it serve a double purpose? - i.e. do cats object to splashback? 🙂
