Part vent and part hoping for some suggestions.

Large value CRC delivery due today. I’m stuck in the spare room on a call so teenage daughter answers the doorbell and takes one parcel in. Driver mutters a question about a second parcel but then just walks off.

I finish meeting and head down to see what’s what, surprised at the small box and open it up. Long story short CRC have shipped 2 parcels with consecutive Yodel references. I only have the first one but Yodel tracking states 2 deliveries have been made.

Webchat to CRC goes around in circles but they’re now investigating and a less helpful web hat with Yodel later and they eventually conceded that the driver will be asked for details.

No proof of delivery (Covid) no photo taken of box on doorstep but am I screwed?

I’ve alluded to the (probably) empty threat of reporting a theft to the Police and I paid via PayPal but the odds seem to be stacked against me if Yodel have lost (or nicked) the parcel and stick to the argument that they’ve delivered everything.

Suggestions of cracking out the Bombers expected but I don’t know where I would march to and ironically the missing parcel is a set of forks...

They'll just send it again.

I won't shop with CRC or Wiggle because they use Yodel.

Not long ago I had a similar situation but Jnr's new iPhone and some CRC stuff.
Paid next day for the John Lewis iphone delivery but it was mysteriously withheld an extra day... obviously the kid was dissapointed but then next morning Yodel turned up and dropped off the CRC parcel. Jnr was first to the door (of course) and the driver was at the end of the drive by the time I saw only one parcel....

"Excuse me... shouldn't there be another I ask"

Driver seems to check something then say's something like "oh yes.." .. box is a JL box and well you'd not need to be a rocket scientist to guess what it contained.

I rather suspect had I not asked we would have been in the same situation ???

Yes, everything lately has arrived by Royal Mail (I think), it looks like paying the little bit extra for faster delivery has launched me into this whirlpool of denial with a collection of shite-infested cockwombles.

I’m kicking myself that I didn’t pause my call and head downstairs. I saw the driver taking a long time rummaging in the back of the van after he’d first stepped out with a parcel in hand. Had I been there and seen the CRC logo then clearly I’d have been able to answer the half-asked question and challenge him.

The forks are an indulgence so not needed to get out on the bike but I’ll be in bits if I lose out on the cost of a set of forks.

I've had two parcel shipments delivered by different drivers on the same day 30 minutes apart.

If you have paid by credit card you should be safe, plus debit cards can initiate a chargeback.
Just had to do it to currys pc world for non delivery of an £800 laptop plus then not being contactable and having non existent customer service in sorting a refund out.

I went belt and braces with my CC linked up to PayPal. Hopefully this is just a mix up and will be sorted in a day or two but it’s Sod’s law that it’s the most expensive thing I’ve ever bought from them.

Yep... I could have got free delivery on the kids iPhone but he paid me in cash and paid for "next day" out of his own pocket. Coincidentally out of the box that arrived from CRC only a £5 brake rotor adapter had any rush whatsoever... the rest of the £75 order was very strictly for the spares box and still sat there (well except a BB but didn't know I'd need that at the time .. and having used it I didn't) .. quite honestly I thought the extra £10 off of consumables already on sale... why not pay next day... (and 203/160 is just weird....)

*update time*

Sigh of relief as Yodel have just delivered the missing parcel. Put in the doorstep and the driver had gone by the time I answered the door but all safe and sound in the end, phew.

Note sent to CRC advising and suggesting Yodel aren’t perhaps the right outfit which I doubt will affect anything but I’ve learned a lesson from it.

YMMV, but at the moment for me, Yodel are pretty reliable and RM are pretty bloody terrible, with everything taking no less than a week to arrive. All down to your last mile courier and mine seems pretty good and doesn't nick too much stuff...

at the moment for me

The thing with Yodel (and My Herpes) is it'll vary wildly for everyone because they contract out the 'last mile' to bargain bin drivers. My local Hermes driver is great but Yodel are an utter shower; I know plenty of folk who'd say exactly the opposite.

Yep same for us the normal Hermes driver is a star, as soon as he's off sick the village Facebook group explodes with posts about parcels marked as delivered but not, parcels turning up at random wrong addresses, parcels just disappearing into the either. The lack of signatures has made it all worse although that system was hardly fool proof before Covid 19.
