In the original (Episode IV) Star Wars, Luke and co. embark on a trench run to blow up the Death Star.
Question is, geographically, where on the Death Star is the trench?
Behind the Nationwide Death Star branch. Obviously.
I always assumed it ran round the equator
How it happened:
The trench is Death Star Equator. It's like a seam in the very middle of the battle station running East-West.
Obvs, isn't it?
Is it?
Briefing seems to indicate otherwise, that there is a star like series of trenches on the opposite side to the 'dish' and the attack trench is oriented N/S
It's about half way between the equator and the North Pole according to the technical readouts innit!
It's the fat middle bit, think Earths equatorial plain and transpose onto the Death Star..
Oh, beaten by 10 minz.. ^^

There we go.
It wasn't the equatorial trench, that was much too wide to be it - if I remember the Falcon landing scenes correctly.
