I'm after some advice about which Singlespeed chain to go for.
Any advice.
I've always used SRAM 8spd chains, never had any issues.
KMC 1/8" Z510 hx
The on that on one are selling for bargain price.
Sram 1/8 chain used to be great, then I started to kill them every couple of months. Now have a 3/8 KMC and its been great. Year 2 and still no wear considering the crap the winter is chucking at it.
Do it properly, gusset badger, proper ships anchor
3/32? KMC Z610hx
KMC rust free, only chain that survives single speeding round these parts.
Another vote for KMC Z610 hx, great chains.

So good I used them twice.
Connex 808
KMC. Dirt cheap. Does all the chainy things that you need it to.
Little extract here from the Surly website:
Multi-speed drivetrains is where the bucks are at, and chains that work on such drivetrains are where the manufacturers of chains showcase their innovations and developments in quality.

In summary, ordinary 8sp / 9sp chains are cheap, well engineered and pretty ubiquitous. Where ever you are, you'll be able to find a spare.
Peronally, i have used SRAM 9sp chains for years (whichever one is the cheapest at the time i'm looking) and have never had any issues on my singlespeeds.
Chains don't need to do anything fancy on a singlespeed.
Therefore the cheapest 8speed I can find.
Or...
A chain made from all the offcuts from other bikes...

KMC Z610hx - as above. This is the best. Cheap, long lasting, won't suddenly snap or unship.
Avoid the sram PC1. It's the opposite of all the above
SRAM PC1 on my track, road and mtb bikes. Never had a problem with one in thousands of miles. Don't pay extra for multi-speed chains.
Whatever's cheap.
Though their MUST be a gap in the market for a properly bushed hardened pin singlespeed chain that doesn't cost the earth. I'd buy one.
