Prince Rackets are good some thing like this >
http://www.tennisnuts.com/shop/squash/squash-rackets/prince-squash-rackets/prince-special-offer-and-clearance-squash-rackets/prince-power-ring-excel-squash-545765.html just like bikes last seasons top end rackets go cheap!!!

Also play a slightly better player than you when leaning or get some coaching sessions

When I am perusing the finer items in charity shops, I always come across squash bats. Used to play badminton, and we got a load of good quality badminton bats from a charity shop. fine until you go pro.

Karakal, Dunlop or Prince are favourites at my old club.
Agree with comments above re coaching. Stuff like how to hold the raquet properly, how to move and where to after hitting the ball are all important basics.
You can also learn a lot by just watching the good club players and then trying to emmulate their moves.

if you are playing with a mate try spending some of your court time on basic practices rather than on "games" or get a better player to join you(both)and he can "feed" the ball to you making you move around and get you hitting the ball properly. Try not to "kill/murder" the ball all the time, try moving it and your opponent around the court.

You can buy a perfectly good squash racket and still hate it. I think it's Head that make some great rackets but with a handle shape that I can't stand. Try to borrow a few off your club pro (if there is one) to see what you prefer.

Agree with the Dunlop above as a good beginner raquet, i really wouldn't spend a fortune as for the forseeable future you will whack the wall & floor as much as the ball!

I would also make sure you go for a larger head size raquet too
