One bag of self entitlement collected this morning. No photo but I'm sure you can image a bin bag of litter next to a bin!

Should have taken the blazer back to the school saying you found it amongst a shed load of litter.

I've taken to confronting groups of yoot in the park when I see them.
The hot weather means every morning you see a wake of litter in the places they were congregated. Does my mofo nut in 😡

There was a big group at the weekend sat amongst what looked like a bin explosion carpeting the ground all around them.
I asked if they'd pick it up later, and they said yes.
So I imagine it all got picked up then.

Saw a fly-tipped baby car seat yesterday and thought there was a beautiful irony in someone simultaneously caring for the next generation by strapping them into a safety harness whilst also basically symbolically shitting on their future. 🙄

A bit of hand-picking on my afternoon dog walk today. To be fair, it's not usually too bad around here (certainly I'd struggle to fill a green bag like Bert's) but the sheer idoicy of it just being dumped on the roadside still makes my weewee boil too.
One beer bottle, several extra bags of dog-shite in addition to the ones mine were responsible for generating, the remains of a cardboard box (doughnuts or similar) and a couple of discarded fag packets. Oh, and something that had some icecream in it, once upon a time.
People? Can't we just shoot the flinking lot of them?

A $12.6bn company yet McDonald's can't educate their customers to put their finished packaging in a bin.

Trash Free Trails is collecting data on what is found and where, and then using it to challenge the companies responsible to help address the problem. One way of tracking what's found is to use komoot - you track your walk, then geotag photos of the litter as you find it along the way. Another ****ing litter rant.
Just taken Bert the doggo to a swimming spot that involves walking through a park - not the same one that my usual litter picking posts are about. He's on lead out in front and he's walked through broken glass and cut his pad - limping and bleeding. This is on a path that goes round the outer perimeter of the children's soft play area and leads down to a river and the countryside beyond.

I must sound like the DailyMail but I am ****ing sick of the littering scum and self entitled ****s that shit up this country especially when it's injuring my dog.

It is everywhere and seemingly endless. The fly tipping is one thing but the small impact/high volume stuff is probably more annoying as there's no reason for it. You brought it with you, take it home or put it in a bin.

Rawtenstall has been entered in Britain In Bloom this year. Civicpride have been doing an amazing job with the planters and generally making the town a nicer place to live so the least I can do is collect litter.

1 bag of litter collected and 20minutes of balsam bashing. I've adopted a bit of land opposite our house next to the river. Over the last year I've stripped it of HB and planted 100's of tree/bush seeds and berries, conkers etc that I pick up on my dog walks.
A lot of them are starting to grow now so just needs the occasional bit of maintenance when passing with Bert.

Majority of this was within about 100 yards of where I live. I had to stash it and return later with a bag.

I realise that I haven't even made a dent into the local litter problem but it has made me feel better doing something positive rather than just getting angry about it. Hopefully it will become a regular habit. Will look into equipping myself with a picker and hoop thingy.

With litter I think you can get either angry about it which achieves nothing or do something which then hopefully inspires other people to do the same.

It might be worth seeing if there is a local litter picking group or a contact at the council so you can leave 'offical' bags at the council bins for collection.

Was discussing the subject of separating recyclables this morning with Civicpride - the problem with my litter picking is that potential recyclables end up in landfill as I don't have the capacity to bring the rubbish home and sort it. Having a willful energetic dog in hand means I don't have any spare hands for a separate bag. It might be I do alternate days - litter / recycling🤷‍♂️

1 bag collected from local park and nice path, bulked up by polystyrene chippy trays.

When I'm out with Bert on a normal/non litter picking walk I try and do "poo and two" into the nearest bin (although two is easy)

Saturday morning Bag for life aka carry my cider then discard bag was reused and hand filled with litter on the way home.

Followed your lead today and went out to have a clear-up in the village this morning.

The local council have the main road through the village closed as they're installing traffic calming. The lack of traffic meant it was safe to go and clear the verges along the road in to the village. It annoys me every time I cycle home and have to pass the dumped litter.
Next stop is the other road in to the village. The council won't let a community litter pick go along there as it's a 50mph road so hopefully it'll be ok with the current lack of traffic.
