[Closed] "speeding fine of $290,000"

In Finland you get fined a proportion of your income and a few years ago one of the big wigs at Nokia got fined. Similar sort of money or even more if I remember rightly.

Driving in Switzerland they seem to have way more speed cameras than us.

the fine should reflect your wealth to some extent. It would have been a bit futile to give the man a £60 (equivalent) fine when he's worth £14m. He was a repeat offender, so he obviously just treated the law with a bit of contempt.
