What size/type pump do I need for

Filling a rainwater tank at a low flow rate say 500 liters per hour or less

Distance is 16 meters and height 2 meters

Source not suitable for submersible pump as too shallow with mud

I have garden hose available now or can buy something more suitable

Submerged hose will require a filter or some sort of filtration before tank for sand mud and gravel

Do have outside power supply by the tank and extension that would reach the source.

Pump should be silent to run at night

Would the pump be at source end or tank end or somewhere in between? Most of the ones I have seen appear to push rather than pull. Also water feature pumps do not appear powerful enough to raise the water 2 meters. Shower pumps look too industrial and need something I can rig up as required not a permanent installation. I would also only need to run it occasionally just to top up.

Most of the garden pumps I have seen are much too high capacity and around £500 was looking for something like a water feature low capacity pump.

Anyone have any experience in this ?

Surely with your User name you should know something about this? 🙂

You don't to try and "pull" it, needs a much more powerful set up.

Can you not dig the source a little deeper and drop a 12v submersible pump in?

Push will work with a standard hose pipe.

Just get a standard submersible pump with a floating switch (so it auto turns off) and a floating intake.
