245 litres (65 gallons) of water per square metre (11 square feet)
That's the equivalent of 245mm?
My uncle lives just outside Alora just above the floodplain. A relative of their landlord was airlifted. Sounds horrific.
I was in Punta Prima. SE Menorca yesterday as the storm tracked north east from southern Spain. At 06:45, I was awoken by the sound of wind and rain. I went to the balcony doors and drew back the curtains. I was stunned. I was 200m from the beach and it looked like TV coverage of a Florida hurricane. Lightning every 2-3 seconds illuminated the sea swell and bending palm trees. I thought I was dreaming as just hours earlier me and Mrs. S had been sitting on the balcony enjoying a drink and a game of cards. The storm passed after about an hour and out popped the sun. Respect Mother Nature.

cbike, my sister and brother-in-law live in Alora, on the side of the hill above the station, and have been watching things unfold - lovely, lovely area - Mum is visiting them at the mo'. No water or electricity but they are all fine, thank goodness.
