Crib Goch.
Best, most fun route up there. First did that about the same age as your little ones and loved it.

The one that keeps them interested. Go for something that has a couple of scramble sections in it.

Up ranger and down crib goch or vice versa would be my choice.

Nipper99...
They walk regularly in the Peak District and have completed some day walks in lakes as well as walking in Malverns, Cotswolds......
So we are aware of their ability and they know they can say enough is enough and we will listen.

The Watkin Path is a lovely picturesque route with an interesting top bit. Then down the South ridge to join the bottom part of the Watkin back to your starting point.

OK, unless you have done CG before i would not recomend it as a first outing - its fine but can take people differently and it is a bit exposed in places.

A nice outing with some rocky bits would be something based on the Rhyd Du path. Instead of going up the Llechog ridge follow the path to the bwlch between Yr Aran and the Snowdon South Ridge. Go up the S. Ridge and along Bwlch Main to the summit and then back down the Rhyd Ddu path proper (Llechog ridge) to the start. S.Ridge is a bit of a gem.

See below.

Just realised I meant up rhyd du and down ranger or vice versa, not crib goch

If you've had them up Striding Edge and Sharp Edge in the Lakes, they will probably be OK on Crib Goch although it's a bit longer and more sustained. If you haven't done it before, I'd think twice about taking the kids up it.

That's Crib Goch not Snowdon, boblo.

I was 9 when I did the Miners track (up) and Pyg track (down) with my dad on a miserable ass day. Think it's been sanitised a bit since then though. (eek - that was 31 years ago!!)

Aaah, Crib Goch. Snowdon should be fine. People are just planks getting 'lost' up there... The main tracks are very very very obvious. It should also be very very very obvious if you're not on one and if this is the case, retrace and get on one.

Usual caveats apply about nav, maps and prep especially if taking kids out. Even summer days can turn into epics given the right (wrong) combination of events.

Crib Goch is a very exposed ridge, if the kids are to "active" they could end up down the side, I'd use the PYG or miners for there age group

Any of the main path routes or combinations of mentioned above will be fine (Pyg, Miners, Snowdon Ranger, Rhyd Due, Watkins, South ridge). Daughter managed Pyg > Miners aged 6, this is the shortest route with least height gain. They all have some interest. Llanberis path is dull, and having the train go past can be demoralising, unless the kids are train spotters. I'd avoid Crib Goch unless they (and you) have some scrambling experience. Personally I'd only want to (closely) supervise one 8 or 9 yr old on CG.

Edit. Nipper's route has some old quarry workings that can be (carefully) explored near the bottom of south ridge.

I work as an ML on Snowdon and my preferred route would be to park in Llanberis and get the bus to PyP, walk up the pyg and the down the Llanberis path.

The other, over looked, route I like is the Rhyd Ddu path.

Get in touch if you want any specific advice or even if you fancy hiring me to give you an educational day on the mountain rather than 'just' a walk! 😀

Park in Llanberis, bus up the pass, then Pyg track up, Llanberis path down, the railway keeps it interesting when they're flagging a bit, plenty of choice of cake or chips as soon as you get back down too.
