Hi all

I'm looking to buy a DSLR, budget £350ish.

Looking at something like the Nikon D3000 with 18-55 lens, Argos £349.99 and with 55-200mm lens £479.98 but with dicount as wife works there we are looking at approx £400.

What would you get, one thing is I would like a nice 200/300mm lens with body.

One thought is Sony 200/230 or if available A35 as I currenlty have a Sigma 28-300mm lens with my old Minolta SLR.

So help me out please.

Thats a very good discounted deal on the twin lens kit, have you also checked what kit deals you can get in the Canon range too?

Pentax K-r is supposed to be very good, no video though if that's a deal breaker

It'll all be much of a muchness at that level. I'd suggest as Molgrips does and just get your hands on different cameras, get a feel for them and play around in the menus/controls. You'll almost certainly find that you have one you feel the most comfortable with. Buy that one.

The Canon 55-250 lens is ace and about £150 at the moment, if you decide to go the Canon route.

I'd advise going to a shop and handling a few; cameras are relatively fairly similar functionally these days, but the interfaces vary wildly. Find what's comfortable for you.
