I came off the bike Friday morning on the ice. Bike was ok but I reckon I've bruised a rib.

It generally not particularly painful though excruciating getting into certain positions. Sneezing isn't good nor is getting into or out of bed.

It was pretty sore to breath deeply yesterday but ok today which makes me think bruising rather than cracked.

I've blessed with a reasonably high pain threshold (cycling 10k home Friday was slow but bearable).

Any problem with taking a paracetamol and commuting by bike tomorrow (alternative is the train which is mucks about with schedules a bit so a pain)?

When I cracked a rib, commuting on the tube was one of the most painful things I did, very uncomfortable with the stop start juddering nature of the journey, IANADr

You’ll know if they are broken because you’ll need a rope from the ceiling to get out of bed.

Don't fall off again. Broke a few last year and was 2 months before I could sleep comfortably again.

I broke some ribs in August after an otb landing on the edge of a large rock.
Coughing and sneezing was unbearable ..lying on my left side while sleeping still gives a dull ache each morning ( I try not too).
You can take Ibuprofen as well as paracetamol which will control the pain more effectively ..but don't use something like voltarol as well as the ibu pills ..one or the other ..
You have my sympathy ..even if it's just bruising you will be uncomfortable for a while ..

Bruised or cracked = 4 to 6 weeks till sorted and back to normal

As above, manage the discomfort with paracetamol and ibuprofern. Find a comfy position when trying to sleep and make the most of it, as you'll be up at least once in the night. Coughing, sneezing, laughing, deep breathing, pulling, rolling over and others all equal pain/discomfort

Oh man.

Laughing: that was bad, but at least you were generally happy while laughing so in some way it’s bearable.

It’s the fear of feeling that tickle at the tip of your nose, thinking, “please don’t be a sneeze...oh good it’s gone...oh shit, it’s coming back again...oh bollocks, here it comes...no it’s gone again...ah ****, Aaaaachooooo. OWWWWWWWWWWWW.” 😆

Did mine just before the start of this 'cross season. Remember an interval session near the start of the season where deep breathing hurt me so much I was actually crying. Raced first three races of the season on lots of painkillers.

Have fun x

I did mine in pretty bad at Easter.

While I could cycle at low intensity, I chose not to for fear of the consequences of a second crash on the same side (and once you start thinking along those lines a second crash is far more likely).
