Anyone got one yet? Can you mod these to tether or be a wifi hotspot?

Ive got one, its nice, though its a PITA to type anything on it as the keyboard detection is pants, and the battery life is hopeless, though whether its any worse than any other smartphone i dont know - i dont have a clue what the rest of your question means....

I bought one off ebay for £250. Didn't get on with it. It's a good phone, but the touch screen really peed me off. Nowhere near as good as the desire or iphone. Doesn't have multitouch and kept losing it's wifi signal despite being right in front of the router.

Stuck it back on ebay and sold it for £280!

Not yet, but you can when it gets Android 2.2. Get a Nexus One and you can do it straight away - assuming you don't mind manually flashing the handset with the new version of the OS.

How about the "mini" version - wife is keen on one but no idea if they are any good.

having liked the look of the Mini x10 and done some research on it - I'm holding off. I like the idea of a small android phone with a decent 5MP camera but it has several downsides:
- it's running android 1.6
currently android is on 2.1 with 2.2 out imminently?
and 3.0 out at the end of the year.
- sony are releasing 2.1 for x10 at the end of the year.
therefore, you'll be constantly playing catch-up.
- i've read there are some stability issues.
