[Closed] Sonder Camino New Model or Existing One?

I've had a Camino on order since last August, with a build date of this week.

Alpkit have now said I can have the existing model with vouchers to the value of 10 percent of the bike.

Or I can have the new model.

I've never had a gravel bike (ride a whyte t130)

So not sure what to do.
The bike will be for local loops and the odd jaunt to kielder.

Main concern is the integral routing it's a pain on my whyte.
Standover height I'm getting a large but wouldn't want the standover to be any higher.
Looks like tyre clearance is the same ?

Any thoughts please?

Gf has had the same offer, she's decided to stick with the original to avoid further delays, and the vouchers will be a nice bonus!

The new one is also more of a move towards mtb geometry from what I understand, and she'll be using it for road as well, so was happy to stick with the very well reviewed older model.

Thanks Aero, I'm guessing the older geometry is better for on the road?

Someone on the Camino owners FB group posted this which is interesting. https://bikeinsights.com/compare?geometries=5fa225022e45dc0017cff504,6206645a5b8706001f0ec67e

I have an old one (2021). It's probably more road than the new one but it's still a way off "road geometry". It's fine on the road and I run my large with a 100mm stem despite them recommending 80mm. I'd say, having not really looked at the new one but having read the email saying the geometry is slacker, if you want to a mix of road and off road then get the older one. The new one looks a bit too mtb to me for what I use it for.

I'v got one of the old ones, seems to plat down the mtb trails by me without too much trouble. doesn't the new one just have more clearance and internal and dropper routing? the latter would be nice but the former I'd rather have external

On old style frame hanging around

Thanks all for the responses.
Given i'm probably going to be riding 50/50 road/forestry tracks for longer days the old bike seems the better choice.
Agreed the 10% voucher is very generous, and a pleasant surprise.

@rocketdog the emails states it has longer, slacker geometry. I feel like the geometry is already long and slack enough for my riding but mines is generally a mix of Surrey bridleways and commuting by road. I guess it depends what people want to use it for.

That is interesting, thanks.
This is also interesting: new Cotic Cascade vs New Camino. As you can see, the differences are way bigger, with the Cotic being much more upright, slacker, longer.

https://bikeinsights.com/compare?geometries=61fa7c59aaa206001cbff064,6206645a5b8706001f0ec67e,

I use my Camino (the outgoing model, I think it’s v3) mainly as a commuter that does 95% of its miles on road, so I’m not sure I need slacker geo. It’s already a very different beast compared with my race bike.

Had the same very generous offer, I went for the new model, as the fork mounts looked handy, and I've already a cross bike.

That's a cool website for comparing bike geometry!

They have a bit of a sale on at the mo in store anyway so vouchers could go even further.

Mrs Christ just had a Jura jacket with 25% off..

Are the changes just for the alloy model or ti too?

Those who have had the email, did it also say the bike would be built in a couple of days? Just spoke to Sonder and that said the email was a mistake and the build was delayed till end of March.

I received my Camino 2 weeks ago and it appears to be the new model as it has dropper routing, never had a email offering a choice but happy I got the new one.
