I hope that was a GoPro left there.....

It's either normal or a little bit too much of a drop at the end, wouldn't want to be the one who said "Be Reet" on that one ๐Ÿ™‚

It's normal. Side launching is pretty quick. Flying support timber surely must have been considered.

Apparently, steel supports are usually used, but a decision was made to use timber, with the result shown.
In future, filming won't be allowed so close!
The article, which I can't find at the moment, didn't mention any injuries, which would be a miracle if someone was holding the camera.
Clearly, engineering fail!
