Keep getting an email with a log in code for our shop email.
We didn't ask for it. Should we be doing anything to protect ourselves?

If your using 2 factor authentication ideally via an app rather than simple sms you should be fine. Obviously remind any staff not to respond/share these requests.

While it maybe a nefarious intent you should never under estimate people ability to constantly enter the wrong email address believing it’s there’s.

System works as designed.

There's no harm in changing your password if you're concerned, so long as you don't do it following a random link. Of course, this should be something complicated and unique.

Or their capacity to get there, their, 's and s mixed up!

I periodically get them for my e-mail and other things, I assume it's just an e-mail list being sold somewhere.

Change your passwords though, it might be a 'enter this code to change your password', or it might be they already have the password and it's the 2FA to get logged in.

It happens.

A friend of mine has a relatively common name. He has a namesake somewhere in Texas (IIRC) who seemingly doesn't know his own email address. My mate routinely gets email intended for this other guy, it's been going on for years now.

My namesake seems to use my email address rather than his own too. I get all sorts of emails intended for them - loan approvals, mortgate statements, dating app registrations.
I once even got contacted by the police regarding interactions with a well known public figure, which is now public knowledge, but wasn't at the time!
