What you got?

Bike to the hills, bivvy & bask in nature's glory ?

Pagan orgy ?

Watch Midsommar on Amazon Prime ?

Trek to Milton Keynes (few know it's built around the solstice, one year I'll get up at 430 to watch it)

Normally I do the south peak loop overnight. But a spannered back means I won't be doing it this solstice.

Had loads planned including a decent bike ride but it's all been cancelled by other people. I'm feeling humpty.

Going to a local burial mound on the north downs. Usually do to Trottiscliffe but suspect it'll be busy, so avoiding.

Having a BBQ there with other half, socially distanced as she doesn't live with me and I'm shielding someone.

Looking forward to it.

Yes, we'll be bringing all our rubbish home with us!

I was planning sunset at a stone circle, a 100 mile road ride in the 7hrs darkness and back to the stone circle for sunrise. But the weather forecast is shit and the idea of riding 100 miles in the rain overnight is not appealing!

I wanted to be in Scotland, riding my mountain bike in actual hills. Instead I'll be doing sweet FA.

White Peak for me and 2 mates. 3 shires, Cumberland, cheeky shutlingsloe and Macc forest. Forecast is pure sun so it should be a blinder. Room for a few more if anyone fancies it. Set off 6.30ish at clough carpark.

The hubby and I had planned at the start of the year to celebrate with a big day out riding in the peaks, but that’s before we spent most of the last few months eating cake and not getting much riding as our dog sitter is isolating. So instead we are popping out over our local (Cannock Chase) and planning to watch the sun set, then back home for crumpets 😃 (and possibly more cake)

Watching the rain clouds on Wunderground all morning and wondering if it's safe to go out without getting wet, lost track of time this afternoon while feeling really drowsy, just realised a few minutes ago I didn't take my Beconase hayfever spray this morning so that's probably why I feel ready for bed!

Cup of tea and then get changed into MAMIL gear, I feel the need to head up Harvesting Lane, depressingly for the first time this year.

Burn all the stuff that makes me angry then inhale strength from the resulting fumes.

Had toyed with the idea of a sunset to sunrise ride, and even got as far as charging my lights, but bottled it after looking at the overnight weather forecast.

Have done 68 miles on the road this morning, and will try to grab a couple of hours on the singlespeed tomorrow at some point.

Bbq and a bonfire in the garden. Already paid tribute to the stones at Avebury a couple of weeks ago.

Never been to either Stonehenge or Avebury for the solstice, because it’s been hijacked by a bunch of pseudo-Druids and stoners banging bloody drums, and hippy crystal gazers who hang loads of plastic tat all over every available tree. 😕
It’s the tree thing that really annoys me, none of the trees are very old, and tying plastic rubbish to the branches just isn’t environmentally friendly!

Was originally planning a sunset-sunrise ride as usual, had a route planned in the Beacons, weekend booked off work and everything! Won't be happening now sadly. Instead I'm going to do my now-normal local route and plan to be up at the highest point around 9pm-ish and watch the sun dip behind the horizon. I'll use it as time to think about things as it's been a strange year for so many reasons.

Which reminds me, better get the lights on charge!!

TBH a childhood with ‘Children of the stones’ put me off hanging round stone circles 🙂

Or that quatermass Series where they all get frazzled.

Gotta be a high chance of the aliens finally turning up in theses strange times thou.

I felt a bit flat today so wife instructed me to go out on my bike. Never realised it was the Solstice else I might have planned a longer ride. Don't really know what the date is these days.

Might get up early for the sunrise and head up to the highest place local to me (actually is an ancient a temple of sorts) https://www.historicenvironment.scot/visit-a-place/places/cairnpapple-hill/

Actually thinking about it, wasn't the Ride to the sun meant to be today? I did it last year, there was no wind and was very mild 👍

Crap sunset here anyway, it's kind of overcast, can definitely feel the rain coming in.

Glad I'm not out riding!
Strava is showing quite a few big old rides from today though, seems most of the people I follow got out for at least 100km, many of them for 200+!

That was my plan also.. I also thought I’d stay in bed and let the rain clear..

I've set up the wildlife camera to record it. It is chucking it down here at the moment. If it stops raining I might sit and watch the Sun rise up above the cairns on Tai'r Carn Uchaf.

Went on my evening ride but it was too overcast to get any decent pictures. Which is annoying as the last few weeks the sunsets have been great. It's now raining so won't go out in the morning.

Lovely on the North Downs tonight. Never seen so many bats out but hardly any people where we went. Perfect.

A similarly rubbish dawn here, just went from raining and dark grey to raining and light grey.

I've just seen a 225 mile all night ride on Strava from a mate down south!

This is the first solstice in 12 years I have not wild camped/biviied. I really wanted to but felt under the current corona lockdown conditions it was best not to.

Too much cloud over here so I wouldn't have seen the sunset etc. At least I will always remember the 2020 summer solstice, the year of the corona.

Simple out and back ride to the closest hill (The Trundle in Chichester for the southerners). Small crowd but pretty chilled. Beautiful evening although actual sunset was average.

Also huge buzzing clouds of cockchafers bumbling around on the ride down.

Usually do to Trottiscliffe but suspect it’ll be busy,

Coldrum Stones?

We were planning on being in the Lakes, we got engaged on the top of Skiddaw last year at sunset so were going to go back. Instead we drank Prosecco & Whisky in a hammock in the garden 🙂

Walked to an island off the coast with some mates and a borrowed dog. Low tide was right and the seal colony was very rowdy. Cloudy so no sun but nice jolly. Was going to go to Stonehenge this year but hey ho. Home brew ginger beer in the garden and bed. Was bikepacking round the Elan valley last year and sat up with my mate and our hipflasks.
