was having a look to see if there is an active thread, but not seeing one.

Anyone doing it this time ? I usually do, both October, and January, just as a bit of a reset. Day 7 so far, feeling no different! Would normally have one or 2 Small Beers (2.1%) of an evening and a couple of home measure gins at the weekend, or a bottle of wine over a couple of weekend nights.

No... but might make the effort to at least stay off it Monday-Thursday. It's every night at the moment 😭

Is this as a prelude to Can't-Remember-November?

If you need to even consider it, you've a drink 'problem' IMO.

Yep, feeling marginal benefits in improved sleep and productivity already surprisingly. I had been trying to fit a lot in though.

If you need to even consider it, you’ve a drink ‘problem’ IMO.

Less than half hour from the OP and we have the first bellendery. Well done mate. Now sling yer hook.

I've only just discovered Jet 27, brought a bottle back from France last week!

It's like Kendle mint cake as a drink...

Is that to disguise the smell when you have a crafty pint during Sober October?

Or is it non-alcoholic absinthe?

Genuinely a bit confused.

Nope. I don’t drink much, so bugger not enjoying what I do drink.

I stopped drinking in Jan 2021. So 2 years this jan. Was really not easy. I had got into a habit i could'nt seem to break and was drinking constantly.

Brewdog Alcohol free range got me through the first few months then when the habits / cravings wore off it was a lot easier to deal with.

Good luck all. Better sleep and fatter wallets await.

Brilliant, didn’t realise this was a forum for ten year olds.

I may give it a go, not for the whole month as I'm having a glass now, but I'm thinking of just going thirty days AF.

I stopped start of August, was becoming more aware that even one or 2 beers had an effect on my sleep. Usual habit was a bottle of red wine at the weekend plus between 4-6 500ml beers spread over a week - more than the recommended amount but not huge in relative terms. The main thing is that even that amount was having a negative impact for me, others' mileage may vary. Kids still not sleeping reliably so it was compounding that problem.

Absolutely not transformational in any way but I am noticing positive effects from just generally sleeping a bit better and having a clear head every morning. I'm enjoying my running and cycling more, work also seems easier. Will definitely stick with it through October but now the habit is broken it's not really a conscious effort.

Not drunk since June, apart from a couple of specific events which were already arranged. One of them is this weekend where we're we've met up with family without kids.

I'm now a complete lightweight 😁

Can't say not drinking has made me feel any better, apart from having a clear head in the morning. However it's definitely reset my relationship with alcohol. Which is very much a good thing as I was drinking more nights than I wasn't drinking.

I've got gout so am currently off the booze and vegetarian. Been off for a couple off weeks now so might see if I can go the whole month seeing as I failed at the 100 days to Christmas thing.

Not finding it hard at the moment but obvs have the motivation of no pain!!

@tomd The sleep/morning head thing was a surprise to me too, even after just a glass or two.
I like feeling really good in the mornings these days!

TBH I thought it was a reasonably valid viewpoint,if tersely put 🙂

A week in, not difficult at all. Don’t really feel any different, though reading some of the comments I do think I am sleeping a bit better. Probably snacking more of an evening so no weight loss, and could do with dropping half a stone. Will see how next week goes..
