I expect boundary changes will be priority number one.
aren't boundary changes managed by a completely independent comission?
In addition to my comment in last post I had forgotten that Tugnut was still in the race, so that's someone else who had a foreign parent. And in his case he personally also has a foreign nationality as well as his British nationality.
It is fair to say that the majority of the parents of the Tory leadership candidates are actually foreigners, and at least one candidate, probably more, also has a foreign nationality.
Well half of the remaining 6 leadership candidates, including the favourite, were born to foreign parents, and as if to emphasise that fact all 3 have brown skin. So things could get interesting.
Yep its a funny one, what I don't like about them is they are the pull the drawbridge up behind them sort of people.
Don't forget BJ was a New Yorker so he was very successful for an immigrant.

And if their parents were subjected to the rules that they themselves brought in, they would presently be citizens of Rwanda. Yet none of them even acknowledge this absolutely shameless hypocrisy
Pull that ladder behind yourself and tickle the tummy of those racists
Anyway... Lz is on now with news on her ... slogan ahoy..... 'Aspiration Nation'
No I haven't just made that up. Some genius stayed up all night thinking of that one.
She's delivering her speech now, with all the passion and dynamism of a ventriloquists dummy. Its actually painful to listen to

She can't even read off a script. Ambitious stuff, getting on an 'upward trajectory' by 2024. Almost like she's competing with Starmer for boring us all to death.

If you want to make the Starmer thread more exciting by offering your opinion feel free.
Aspiration Nation
Aspiration: the action or process of drawing breath.
High bar we're aiming for then, a nation that breathes.
Kimi Bad-enough has announced that "We must stand as the party for change"
Only the Tories can free us from the shit show of incompetence of the last 12 years under the Tories....
‘Aspiration Nation’
Expiration Nation
Exasperation Nation.
Asphyxiation Nation
Exploitation Nation as workers rights get eroded
Keep up at the back there - we all know, and it has been pointed out to me before (to my face) that there are Good Foreigners and Bad Foreigners. Telling me I am one of the acceptable ones (Kiwi, speak English, look white) still happens enough that I know it is still a thing. This was also noticeable in the responses to the refugees from wars in Afghanistan and Ukraine. Arguably we (UK) had more responsibility for the former!
Yeah but Afghanistan is proper foreign, Ukraine is only a bit foreign!
Exfoliation nation.
Implosion nation.
Arguably we (UK) had more responsibility for the former!
Much more. But that's part of it... people fleeing Russian aggression is an easy thing to get behind for a lot of people. People fleeing a mess we're at least party responsible for... don't want to admit our own mistakes... do we. And anyway... this government still made it much, much harder for people from Ukraine flee to the UK than any other European country.
🤣 oh Liz.
At least she didn't walk into a cupboard.
EDIT: or a fridge...
Amongst the remaining candidates for PM, Penny Mordaunt is still the better candidate in my opinion to be the next PM. Let's hope her leadership quality shines through as she gains experience. As long as she knows how to stand her ground she should be fine.
The rest just look weak with minimum leadership quality and perhaps in the sunset of their front bench political career.
Squeeze my family!
I'm hoping Liz wins, OK it will be a sh*t show for a couple of years but hopefully she'll ensure the Tories are unelectable...
She's like a sort of female David Brent, isn't she?
I feel sick writing this, but if frost thinks mordaunt would be bad for brexit then she sounds right to me
Can’t even read off a script.
I was sat in the Barbers watching that...
She’s like a sort of female David Brent, isn’t she?
...and similar comments were made in the room.
My family is already being squeezed. The Autumn rise in the home fuel price cap is going to squeeze the pips out.
With Mordaunt openly promising "the good old days"... I suspect she already has her eyes firmly on the membership, not MPs, and thinks Truss has thrown it.
I feel sick writing this, but if frost thinks mordaunt would be bad for brexit then she sounds right to me
Why didn't the interviewers ask Frost how well he did in his job? It's not as if he had any significant impact in his Brexit role for her to muck up.
“If Brexit is going to be safe it’s going to need a few things,” he said. “One of them is the ability to be tough, be clear, deliver tough messages ... And I would worry, on the basis on what I’ve seen, that we wouldn’t necessarily get that from Penny.”
He doesn't think that anyway, he just knows it's the best way to turn those who make the selection off of her... to favour his preferred candidate... say that Brexit is at risk (while it has also been done, by him).
Liz is torpedoed below the waterline by her own team and the mighty Maggie Maybe Mordaunt.
And "Aspiration for life support during national CPR?" Seriously those PPE graduates need a better grasp of language!
I feel sick writing this, but if frost thinks mordaunt would be bad for brexit then she sounds right to me
She was/is actually a full on Brexiteer and was one of the people repeatedly criticised for perpetuating the myth that Turkey would be joining the EU, thus allowing 'millions of Turks' to come to the UK, which she knew full well was utter bollocks,so I wouldn't get your hopes up too much
I can't see why they would support someone with such a clunky delivery. You would think she has had some coaching, unfortunately for her public speaking is not one of her skills. Possibly the public will warm to her despite/because of that, but it does seem an electoral risk to have her fronting things up.
but it does seem an electoral risk to have her fronting things up
If she gets past the MPs, the members will absolutely lap her up. And she might still make it... when the other candidates are knocked out I can see her squeezing past Mordaunt still. Looking less likely every time she appears though! Electoral risk when eventually put to the general public...? You'd think/hope so... but we're a strange lot, the British English voters... so who knows.
Has anyone asked Liz, if she became PM, how would she feel in her first audience with Her Maj considering she called to abolish the monarchy?
Every time Liz opens her mouth you understand why she prefers to communicate through photos on Instagram and tweets so laden with emoji's that a 12 year old might regard them as a bit OTT.
She really is as thick as mince. No wonder the Tory membership love her
After that car crash this morning, I'm sure her team are presently locking her in a cupboard for the duration of the campaign
I'm sure I've read a description of her as "media savvy"

Its all relative. I think in the context of the Tory party, 'media savvy' actually means 'able to open Instagram'
Unlike, say, the secretary of digital, media, culture and sport, Mad Nad McMad, winner of last years Mrs Mad competition.
Braverman out
Surely they know now its a 2 horse race, get rid of the other candidates and speed the whole thing up
I’m still struggling to come to terms with Truss being a favourite of the right wing Brexiteers when she was a Lib Dem and then campaigned for Remain… but i’m a voter so i must not understand politics.
Surely they know now its a 2 horse race, get rid of the other candidates and speed the whole thing up
Not necessarily.
The foaming-at-the-mouth far right lunatics who voted for Bravernman will now transfer their votes to someone else. They regard Penny Mordaunt as a female Jeremy Corbyn, so I reckon the only person as unhinged as them is Kemi Badenoch
The Tory Party election someone nobody had ever heard of as leader is just the type of thing they'd do. Especially considering the fact she makes Norman Tebbit look like Owen Jones
Had drinks with a colleague last night who's uni housemate works in Whitehall in trade dept
She's worked under Liam Fox - quite snooty , stickler for rules, not around much tho, but loyal to staff
Then under Truss, as barking as everyone says, no idea what she was doing and constantly coming up with hair brained schemes, quite a bit of resentment she took credit for department singing roll over deals she had no hand in
Then working for Mogg! Apparently quite nice & polite- his anti civil service stuff for show, but she said quite insecure; twice pulled a policy launch day before announcement because he changed his mind and ultimately achieved nothing
