As Dimbleby retires, who should replace him?

Having watched her keeping squabbling journos in order on Dateline London, I submit:

Jane Hill.

Is that just because she's female?

Who cares, what it needs is live fact checking, far too much BS goes uncalled, Mogg is a classic example

Genuinely best thing they could do with the programme is cancel it.

Malcolm tucker would be ideal, I can imagine the shock on a few faces when he blurts out “just answer the ****ing question you fat ****”.

(I know tucker is a caricature btw)

Serious journo (if they can find one) to front it, and Richard Osman doing the fact checking.

I'd imagine it's because she's good at keeping squabbling journos in order on Dateline London.

But that's just a guess.

Ruth Davidson. Seems the BBC can't get enough of her - unless they want to ask about politics in which case she is permanently "unavailable".

I've stopped watching it of late. Its done wonders for my blood pressure. I'd start watching again if Frankie Boyle was hosting. Or...

Agree that in-show live fact checking would improve this show a million times. It would hopefully mean that there was less incentive for the 'controversial but pointless' guests they have on there (a lot) and more chance to have constructive, robust discussion about the issues of the day.

So it might be Fiona Bruce... I’m all for female representation but...

Will Julia Hartley-Brewer please sod off for a bit? 🙄

Sandi Toksvig - knows enough about politics and doesn't take crap from white middle-aged men.

Alex Salmond would be ideal. Ex-Westminster and already has broadcasting experience

QT has been garbage for years, be as well scrapping it and coming up with another format as replacement, but whoever gets to host it will have ther work cut out.

Nicholas Parsons.  And they have to follow the rules of Just a Minute, no hesitation, repetition or deviation.  I think the politicians might struggle with the last two.

Judge Dredd as a fact checker with consequences would liven it up a bit.

Glad to see they have kept up with their tradition of planting audience members when they visit Scotland.

QT got caught out before with this with Scott Arthur too- a Labour official (and now councillor) who posed as an "undecided" in a referendum special despite being an active cyber-No blogger (and multiple fake twitter account operator) and was selected "randomly" to ask a question both times- one time to Johann Lamont, who had a pre-prepared answer, and one time to rant at John Swinney then interrupt and heckle other audience members.

This needs a full investigation and certainly sounds like a shocker. I have been put right of QT recently with shouting and Brexit gladiatorial battles going round in circles. I felt that all panelists put forward eloquent points on what appeared like a more congenial atmosphere.

Michael Forsyth came across badly at times, but I was impressed by the input of Eunice Olumide who honestly I had never heard of. I noticed before Fiona Bruce mentioned it was a travesty it took her so long to get a word in to the debate.

It's been happening for years and known about too. Who's going to investigate?

BBC not coming out well over this, have they commented yet?

Fiona Bruce trying to draw equivalence between the leave campaign having broken the law multiple times & 'questions' about the remain campaign was pretty poor too

The Dianne Abbott thing wasn't conscious bias, imho tho

It may have not been conscious bias but it certainly was insulting, unprofessional and added to the flames of the laugh at Dianne Abbott campaign.
