...decided that [ok, now this must be right][cheekyedit] England and some of Scotlan[s] everywhere [/s] [/cheekyedit] was on a bank holiday today, and that all the overpaid and underworked civil servants in the Inland Revenue could have a day off?
Some of us lined up an afternoon of tax issue sorting, only to find the slackers are not at the other end of the phone when I need them...

Seems to be a mix in Scotland today - we're in but the banks aren't, and some schools are in and some aren't.

Discovered today though - that if you live in Ayr (post codes KA6 , KA7 and KA8) there are still normal post office collections and deliveries. Why there and nowhere else in the UK I've no idea. I live in KA5, so thats a bollocks and my mum will just have to wait for her birthday card. 🙂

Scotch bank hols

It is a bank holiday but maybe not a local public holiday where you are, some areas don't take it because they've either got local hols in July or Sept (Glasgow fortnight, Ayr Races etc)

So some local authorities will be working it even if the banks and civil servants aren't (and you could always try calling the revenue in Cumbernauld instead)

It might just be you who doesn't understand what a Bank Holiday implies.

Oh I do, just in my job for the past 20 years bank holidays are an irrelevance and are never taken.
