I see that picture come up every so often. I know it was something to do with a tubeless setup failure but other than that I've no idea.

Without causing any issues (as I can glean the thread went off at a tangent?) just what was it about?

But mostly, why is the penguin relevant?!

Is he no longer round to threaten legal action to he who posts that photo ?

Anyway it's no where near as good as sudocrem cat and his safety flags.

‘The badger’ is his nickname. The penguin is a late addition, wasn’t there on the original photo, no idea what that’s about.
He got a little upset about the photo, especially when it was later taken out of context. Especially when photoshopped into a Concorde shortly after that plane had a major disaster

Rightttt....

Yeah, the Concorde bit. Not good.

So essentially it all started from a thread to do with a tubeless issue? Very stw!lol

I'd the white gunk on the floor 'chopped in, meant to be snow or something?

You could try using the sites search feature.

It’s probably up there with the other Current Popular Search Terms.

Must be 12 years ago, that thread.
All stemmed from a simple tubeless blowout and then got into threats of litigation (for using the image in photoshop without his permission). The funnier everyone found it, the more angry he got with it until eventually he switched and tried to concde that yes, it was all a big joke.

Possibly STWs first ever use of the Edinburgh Defence.

And then it just became a running joke with the image shopped into all sorts of places.

the white gunk on the floor was, iirc, Stan’s tubeless sealant or equivalent

I recall he had a particular spat with one stwer and they ended up pasting each others IP addresses and email addys into the thread. It was hilarious- proper middle-class handbags at dawn!

Definitely belongs in the hall of fame, along with Picolax, Ling & Sudocrem cat

I can’t remember if I was on here that far back, maybe, maybe not... but I do remember it being quite an interesting introduction to the world that is STW.

The pics, the photoshops, were possibly some of the funniest I’ve seen on here.

Who used to do all that photoshop stuff?? 🤷‍♂️

It was/is worth trying to find a copy of it and it really could do with resurrection...

We could do with a giggle .. 🤗

In the same light of thread ressurection, wasn't there another about a mobile DJ or disco that was so popular it was up on page 1 of Google for a while?

Having not witnessed the initial thread I had always assumed the penguin was a reference to that old joke. "looks like you've blown a seal"... "No no, it's only ice cream (Stans fluid)!"

Or maybe I hope someone will send me free stuff.

Have you seen what the popular search terms are this week? 😉

Think Sudocreme Cat is my favourite - the sheer joy of the daughter's random involvement was just beautiful.

I have no idea how to even find the popular search terms! Lol

Edinburgh defence.... Yep, not totally sure of that one? "Sun in the eyes" related??

I'm so out of the loop on the chat forum.

I think Ling Wars scarred me to be honest. I still have gif flashbacks.

He hung around for years but got fed up of the constant posting of pictures. From memory, he got added into Concorde, the Hindenburg explosion, one of those hilarious "photoshop gone wrong" threads - in this case someone wanting an image of him on a bike cut out of the background - next thing Badger was added into it...

He rode a 24hr race once with a soft toy badger strapped to his helmet and then went similarly mental when people kept saying "nice rat!" You could tell where he was on the course by the occasional shouts of "It's a ****ing BADGER!!"

I had to add in four seperate search terms to get rid of the  C-bomb that had been sat in there for weeks. It took me days.

Not ideal if you're a new user searching for something on the site, I thought...

I did a thread about it. No one cared.

Didn't 'The Badger Thread' appear about the same time that a few people flounced off to create their own anti-STW forum?

All we need now is Hora to make an appearance, asking inane questions about the next Ellsworth/Santa Cruz frame he is thinking of buying...

Taken from the hometown of a certain member on here (on this thread actually!) who, in times gone by, had a tendency to get rather riled on threads, and then say "ahhh, I was only joking".

The Badger thread wasn't bad, definitely not a patch on Sudocreme cat.

Is that like Muffin the Mule?

I used to love Jamie’s ‘shop work, he was a great contributor to the site, and as someone who did Photoshop work I could really appreciate what he was doing.
