O.K. I'll start as I came across this one today whilst researching snow chains / snow socks etc for life here in Wales, the tip is that if you are walking about in icey conditions simply wear a pair of socks over your shoes - apparently works really well

So come forth ye mighty STW Massive with experiences and tips 😀

Take the bike, i'll be having none of this walking caper! 😀 Only thing thats stopped me this year is hangovers! Snow is easy, no worse that mud.... Tip for ice though, make sure you've alot of clothes in your backpack so that when your front wheel does go on that inevitable bit of black ice, you've a soft landing!:-)

1- Your elderly neighbours really appreciate you checking on them / their food levels. Unfortunatly they'll want to chat for 90 minutes on their doorstep.
2- Leaving beers outside is better than the fridge and offers a wee shock every time you pop outside for one.
3- Your number plate will probably be covered in snow - that might have some advantages?
4- Use your domestic bin sparingly. The council wont be round for weeks to empty them.
5- It's almost impossible to get a parking ticket!

Certainly makes the police's job easier when they're looking for reasons to book you, they dont even need a photo and a fancy speed trap!

Does anyone know how I can stop my doors freezing to the bodywork, stopping me from getting in? Door handles are the lift up type, so can't even give them a good pull to open them. Looks like the rubber seals freeze to the door frame (Audi).

Avoid blocking my van in so i don't pour water all over your freaking BMW in minus 15.

Tinners - the Wild Wednesday Wheelers in Shrewsbury invented a new substance on Long Mynd to unfreeze things some two years ago; you've heard of WD40 and GT85 well we give you PI55! Works a treat but does tend to leave things smelling like an old tramp and only come in yella fella!

Try silicone fork spray on the rubber seals.Wd 40 also works,Spray on a rag and wipe around the rubber seals.

Thanks, chaps. I might try the WD40 tonight. It's funny, I wondered about vaseline - for no technical reason other than it seemed like a good idea! (and there's a sentence I never thought I'd be typing on the Internet...)
