I'm looking at getting a smartphone ,so I can use the gps for mapping,there's a very good deal on a Samsung Galaxy Ace with t-mobile,I've never used a smartphone before,will it do what I want it to?Which versions of Android are available for it? as I understand 2.3 improves battery life.

Let me use OS maps for navigation and route planning,so I don't need a specific gps.
