hello,

I have tried the search function but I can't seem to find the thread that talked about small GPS transponders that was on here within the last month or so.

If anyone has the thread bookmarked, or can use the search function better could you please point me towards the thread. Otherwise:

I am looking to get hold of a small GPS transponder that logs the position at regular intervals, say every second, and allows a download (txc, gpx or whatever) to some online mapping software for analysis (moving time, distance, etc). I don't need to see any information on a screen (like a Garmin), I only want to record the position data.

So, do any of you know where to buy such GPS devices, or if you have a better idea, please let me know!

Cheers, Jon

I'd just buy a cheap (non-mapping) Garmin and keep it in a rucksack/pocket. There are lots available as more folk upgrade to mapping GPSs.

Any GPS phone will do all that. I've even put an app on my 10 year old's that lets me locate him on a map from mine.
