i'm off into town in a sec, and i want an answer by the time i get back...

off to norway this afternoon for some cycle touring - in the S W of the country.

i sleep quite warm normally, and will be camping.
i have warm clothes if needs be.

do i take a 1 season bag + silk liner
or a 3 season down bag?

both would weigh a similar amount, and take up about the same space.

what would you do?

Three season.

Norway can be suprisingly mild if you're right down at sea-level but it gets colder high up.

3 season and liner. Take for the extreme and kit down accordingly. If it gets very cold, boil water before you go to bed and put it in a bottle at the bottom of your bag, (amazing how warm your whole body gets) and then in the morning you got the water to drink or wash yourself with etc....

go prepared

this time of year it will be quite warm so if it is very hot sleep in your liner and just have the sleeping bag there as a back up 😀

thought of everything 8)

I went touring round norway from Bergen with the bike about this time of year. It was bloody hot at times and then you'd peddle up a hill and they'd be 5foot of snow. The Hardangervidda is worth a vist, all the roads were clear of snow and its funny saying hello to cross country skiers as you peddle along. We camped below the snowline every night but it was certainly chilly at times, 3 season bag would be my choice. Also a few campsites were not open yet when we went in late May but you can camp whereever you like as long as your sensible about it so it wasnt too much of a problem.
