So, good friend is being moved to Japan in a month and a few of us are hoping to get out there to snowboard for a couple of weeks in Niseko. Anyone been and done it that can recommend places to look for accomodation etc...?
Dunno, but I'm jealous. Japanese powder is high on my wish list.
I haven't been but have mates who have and this is what they tell me
It's quite spread out (the resort) so you do have to do some research and be careful where you book
Or a lot of English spoken in that part of Japan, balanced by lots of Aussies with holiday homes there
It's a pig to get to from Tokyo, trains planes and automobiles
The skiing is fantastic (as recommended by Swiss friend who skies a lot)
The Japanese don't do off piste, so the powder (usually fresh every day) is never tracked out
There is some good skiing near Tokyo accessed direct via train, not to the standard of N but good enough for weekends etc
I was looking at a trip when I was living in Singapore but it was a longer trip door to door than flying 14hrs back to Europe
My top tip would be to try and book something via an Aussie company or perhaps a "English" travel agent in HK or Tokyo
