My brother got a laser disk player from behind Sheffield University, about 5 years ago so not exactly current, or that useful.
Not seen a decent skip myself for years...

I have a mate who, although not strictly speaking a skip dive, managed to pass a school being demolished and noticed a skip of PC's. He made enquiries with the demolition guys and was given 2 hours to get anything he wanted, phoned a mate who turned up with a 7.5t truck and cleared out 2x PC suites, all the server and gear, 5 interactive whiteboards, a 15' trampoline and net(!) and as much office furniture as they could get on board.
They then drove down the road and handed it to their local church to distribute/use as they saw fit...It is all now being used to train youngsters, run after school club and nursery and be used in local charity school...

Gosh, I hope coffeeking doesn't see this thread....... 😐

The skip firms will mind, many of them sort the rubbish that arrives and get paid for the scrap they collect, it's part of what makes their service profitable for them. I hate theiving sods, regardless of how convenient it is in some cases.

They are indirectly theiving from the skip firms.
If theiving pikeys go around pinching it all the price of skip hire goes up as they have less recyclable material coming their way.

I always ask for permission - which is usually freely given. At what point does ownership of the contents transfer ? Note that putting your own rubbish in someone else's skip is considered to be theft of space...

Not so much a skip find as a catching-it-before-it-hits-the-skip: An edinburgh police box. Rarer than rare as the remaining ones on the streets in edinburgh are iron, my ones wooden and the same pattern as the iron ones but more finely detailed. Possibly the only remaining example of its type in the world.

And I'm buggered if I know what to do with it.

They are indirectly theiving from the skip firms.

Nothing of retail value is likely to get past the skip truck drivers, they'll hive it all off before they get the skip back to base. Then when you hire a skip the driver will regale you with stories of all the crazy things people throw away and how much they sold them for. Unless you can fain a heart attack or an alien abduction these stories never reach a conclusion.
