Getting yourself an annual policy is probably better value if you're going to be away any more than once in the next twelve months...that's what I've always found...speshilly if it's a winter sports single trip thing you're looking for.

Agree with DD, get the anual cover and the you don't have to think about it.

Take a look onMoney Saving Expert

AS DD says, you may be better with annual policy.
If it's winter sports you need then you may also find that Family wintersports cover is disproportionately cheaper than for single traveller. (I guess the family traveller is lower risk.)

Just try pricing all the combinations of single/family; single trip/annual, etc

It all depends where you're going really and how often you go abroad - I tend to do single trip as I don't tend to travel abroad more than once per year.

So single trip suits fine - got decent cover for a few days in the US for about a £10

I don't go abroad very often to be honest and when i do its a package deal usually so i normally just go with whatever comes with it.

Its not for winter sports sadly so i don't need that. Destination is friends in Prague for a 4 day break at the moment.

What companies/providers are better than others ?

The trouble is knowing how they handle claims - other than that a pure price comparison should be done. I've tended to use Go 'cos they're cheap, I think they're part of a Lloyds names group but then I've not had to make a claim.

Have a look at this company.

Ordinary insurance will not usually cover 'activity sports', fine if you don't need it (and we all hope insurance is a waste of money!) but you if you do need it you want to ask the questions and you want the insurance company to say 'yes'!

Only one I could find that covered MTBing was Insure and Go.
