OK TJ - you've got me out of hiding for this one.
You and I have previously discussed your internet communication issues and also the battle you seem to be waging with Al. On a couple of occasions, you've actually been looking for me to take sides and I've studiously avoided doing so. You've also said that you generally find my counsel useful.
There was a while that I thought Al was having some permanent dig at me. I'd post something and up he'd pop making some less-than-friendly remark. It took me a while, but I came to realise that it's all a big piss-take and no different from the kind of banter one would engage in in the pub, over a meal or whilst out riding bikes. That's it. That's what it is. I've told you this but you still can't quite seem to understand. What's even more mysterious is that you were once a regular on mlehworld, where this kind of piss-taking is [i]de riguer[/i] - but then you were "bullied" off that, weren't you?
As for this ruining your friendship with Al, there's irony there too. I've become so pissed off with your scathing criticisms of those who don't agree with you, your rudeness and pig-headedness that I've stopped responding to anything you post (no killfile necessary) and I'd currently go out of my way to avoid meeting you in public too. That's a shame as I thought your Pentlands trailbulding venture was worthwhile but I feel it would just be two-faced of me to join in and pretend everything was OK between us.
My recommendation for Al would be to adopt this approach too. No one on STW is really interested in reading about a spat between you two.
I don't expect for one minute that you'll pay any heed to this. It'll be me that doesn't understand and you, poor Jeremy, will once again be the innocent/injured party. Frankly, I don't really care.

The hilarious thing is, I have had quite a few months sabatacle from STW, had a big project at work which has consumed an enourmous amount of time. Months pass and when I get back, Al and TJ and still sniping at each other whilst everyone else marvels at their unbelievable childishness.
Nothing changes, the two of you deserve each other. I hope you both feel this is a worthwhile use of your lives because for eveyone else, it is just pure, dirty entertainment. You are my guilty pleasure.

Clearly its pointless to discuss cynic al with you further. Just to say that its not "banter in the pub" nor is it the same as the pisstaking on mleh. Its been a deliberate and sustained campaign and many people have asked me why he behaves like that towards me. So it clearly is not just in my mind

This thread is in danger of becoming so knowingly self-referential that its inevitable implosion up its own a*se may well take the entire universe with it. 😀
TJ has issues. He cannot see an opinion that doesn't correspond with his rather narrow view of the world without brow-beating the other poster into submission. This can be witnessed in any thread where the benefits of helmets are promoted, where anyone dares to suggest that jumping red lights is wrong and God forbid you should complain about the price of fuel! Where brow-beating does not work he just gets nasty, see threads on Christianity. When pulled up on his compulsive behaviour, he either denies it (see earlier on this thread) or pulls the "Edinburgh Defense" i.e. "I didn't mean it like that..." or "I was taken out of context..."
He likes to present himself as a free thinking, left leaning libertarian. In reality he is quite an unpleasant bully who, like many bullies, plays the victim when things don't go his way.
I'll butt out now. It's Friday and the "Beer Clock" is firmly in count down mode!
