He likes to present himself as a free thinking, left leaning libertarian. In reality he is quite an unpleasant bully who, like many bullies, plays the victim when things don't go his way.

You may think that but please also consider that in real life he is actually very unlike his on line persona. Very un-argumentative and will listen to other angles. He is man enough to stick up for himself so i won't but there does seem to be a lot of picking on him. He never seems to pick on others or leave snidey tags but he will argue blindly that he is right. Never will he resort to insulting though. (Unless i have never read this happening).

As a friend of his, I will stick up for him so please consider what you are typing about him. If you wouldn't say it to his face don't tag it on here.

I'm prepared to accept that thebikechain but he has to also understand that his approach just winds one here people up and they sometimes go out of their way to take a dig at him.

It's a bit sad all round really but I can't see it changing until TJ becomes more like you say he is in reality on here and accepts he can't change peoples minds by banging on about somethign until they give up and walk away.

Sorry - but unfortunately that's just not true. You've obviously been too careful in your choice of threads ๐Ÿ™‚

Like it or not, the social interactions he, or anyone else, has on here is part of real life - hence why TJ himself has indirectly made that point about the impact of Al's comments on him. I'm not trying to get at TJ, or Al, but people can only interact with the 'TJ' who turns up on here - and he's already acknowledged from his own experience that people can be genuinely hurt by the way they get treated in an online forum.

EDIT - I seem to recall that Grumpy Mark has made that point repeatedly in multiple moderatorial comments over the years!

Still this nonsense?

Now it's 3 people what apparently were friends in Real Life, arguing about stuff?

The 3 of you are a fantastic advert for Scotland. Displaying so much warmth, friendliness and tolerance for others...

Er... check my post at the top of page 4 or 5 which demonstrated another aspect of the affable old chump.

It's a real shame he courts it so well - intentionally or not.

If you mean TJ, druid and me, Tj's arguing with me and druid - TJ is English. druid and I are not arguing with each other - we're both celts, TVM.

And if you are actually being serious, I'd say the problems of racism and intolerance are much greater darn sarf than up here....have you ever even been up here?

my 2p
TJ annoys folk by being TJ
Al annoys folk by putting in effort
Who knows which is worse

This, which would lead me to believe that a nice long ban for Al is the best solution.

BUT THEN the bikechain tells me that TJ isn't like this in real life: Which must mean that TJ is just as responsible for this tossfest of pain and misery as Al is.

So, please Santa, can we have a six month ban for both of them?

I've purposely avoided posting on this thread, as it's becoming an all too obvious kicktjuptheknackersfest, and I for one find it a bit uncomfortable. The thread that was linked to was a year old, and although TJ was undoubtedly (IMO) a cock in some of his comments, he did have the decency to apologise later. To add to this, he wasnt exactly on his own in making offensive comments, and I should also say that I'm at fault here as well, by attempting to hammer my point across in order to defend my own belief / faith. Now can we all just get on with the usual drivel that a day on this forum usually consists of?

Back in the real world - hard to do as she died 2 years ago after a long and unpleasant illness. I still miss her.

+1 for barnsleymitch

He speaks wise words.

TJ has apologised. So why continue to crucify him?

I'll have to take your word for it Al. I mean, I would come up there to find out what it's like for myself, but I'm too scared that I'll encounter loads of shouty arguey people, and as you know, I'm painfully shy in Real Life and easily frightened. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

No come on though all a bit silly this in't it?

TJ does himself no favours, but there are lots of vultures around who prey on his weakness to not be able to step away, and deliberately come on here to wind him up*. Like you've done in the past Al! That's not nice, and people should have a look at themselves imo. In fairness to you Al, you've chilled right out recently, and become a much better member of this forum, which is very positive. We can all change for the better , just takes a bit of effort.

*People try that with me, but the difference is, I know I'm superior to them anyway, so I don't get affected by their nonsense. ๐Ÿ˜€

TJ could do a lot worse than maybe just acknowledge the other guy's point of view now and again. Stating this or that as a "FACT" or the classic "It has been shown" which may or may not be true but ploughing on regardless even when someone points out that he's barking up the wrong tree and does actually demonstrate how. There are endless examples of this.

And why not just say "Good point, didnt know that" instead of disappearing when he's dropped a clanger?

I resisted looking at this thread for as long as possible but it was inevitable, I got sucked in.

One thing I'm wondering. With all the point scoring that goes on is STW actually some sort of online game (like angry birds) and if so how do you win?

Problem is, Al & TJ have obviously proved they can't function on a basic, open forum in a civilised manner.

This has been dragging on for ages and isn't doing anyone any favours.

Their mates in real life must have delivered them some sort of ultimatum by now - obviously it's not worked.

A nice long ban for the pair would do everyone a favour.
Sorry, not very nice, but there it is.

TBH I find this sort of acceptance of online bullying or hurling abuse at people to be one for the worst things on line and on here.
In the real world brave folk like this are moderated because people give them a slap. There is no internet equivalent so it allows many folk to let there true self come to the fore.
Sadly this is a childish immature ball of rage with little empathy. When someone objects they stuff like this. This makes most of us just switch off on the internet and just not get involved when this happens.
TBH i have no idea if the person who posted that quote does this so I am not saying this personally about or to them

You should see some of the stuff female bloggers get from the pent up rage of men [ mainly] who when they disagree suggest they should be raped etc. Someone suggested to dom jolly that he hoped his kids died of cancer FFS there has to be a line somewhere

TJ is sometimes abusive but I very much doubt he ever starts it how many on here would take what he gets given and not say something back?
It probably would help if TJ agreed to try and moderate his language on here and chill a bit but it would also help if others did not bait him. It reminds me of the school playground tbh where everyone picks on someone becaue they get an extreme reaction. We are adults could we all behave like it?

PS well done STW towers you must be face palming away at the muppets on here you rely on to stay in business...i would love to know your private thoughts ....e-mail in profile ๐Ÿ˜‰

now could we all be excellent to each other and party on dudes?

i guess somewhere between breaking into dom's house and injecting his kids with infected blood and ignoring what somebody posts on an internet forum about bikes and shit.

one is relatively easy to do yet some people still struggle with it.
